Orpik = Bust

Holtby ends up splitting with Peters by the end of the season...no way he comes close to a .935 svpctg

Matt Niskanen: He was a receiver of great fortune last season when Kris Letang was out, and Niskanen made sure he made great use of his time. He signed a big contract this summer with the Caps and he has a lot to live up to this season. He's a great puck mover, can score and help the power play, but he won't be the go-to guy as much as he was last year. Fans are iffy about Niskanen here in DC and he'll have to prove himself early on.

yeah, lets call the guy we just gave a gob of money too a potential bust. More fodder for other team's fans...

Wow, you're basically predicting that Laich, Johansson, Green, Ovechkin, and Backstrom (and basically Kuznetsov) will all score at least 60 points. 6 players...pretty bold prediction. I don't think any team had more than 5 last year and those teams were limited to like the Hawks and the Avs.

Laich and Green won't. Mojo and Kuzzy could depending on his role. Ovi and Backs are basically guaranteed at least 60 points in a full season, at least next year.

I predict Peters will steal the number one job from Holtby. If Peters plays like he did in Carolina last year when he got the chance he really could surprise. If Holtby struggles Peters will be the man.

Hm.

Peters career NHL experience; 68 games, .908 save pct. Last year, 21 games, .919. He's 27.
Holtby's career; 105 career games, .915 save pct. 21 playoff games, .931 savepct. Last year, 48 games, .915. He's 24.
